Doris Madeline Claunch Wiedeman

Longtime Alamosa resident Doris Madeline Claunch Wiedeman passed away August 22, 2018 at the age of 93.  Doris was born April 4, 1925 in Akron, Colorado to Curtis Edward Claunch and Cleo Mae Mayfield Claunch.  She had four siblings, Albert Rodney Claunch, Dasey Marie Claunch, Viola Mae Claunch Richardson, and Buckey LeRoy Claunch.  The family moved to the valley in 1926 and settled in the Carmel area and started ranching.  During the depression a young man Benjamin Harrison Wiedeman came a long seeking a job.  There he developed a true love and he and Doris were married January 1, 1940.  Doris and Harry continued living in the area for most of their lives raising Harry LeRoy (Margaret) Wiedeman of Fairbanks, Alaska and Rocky (Carol) Wiedeman of Monte Vista Colorado and Mesa Arizona, Angela Loretta (Leo) Doyle of Boulder City Nevada and Brenda Lee Richardson of Denver Colorado. 

She is Survived with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  She also is survived by over 100 nieces and nephews.  Doris loved her family and her Church, while raising their children, they were all very active in the Alamosa Assembly of God Church.  At one time Doris held papers from the church.  The family continued to live in the area until Harry retired in 1978 at which time they started traveling.  Doris always had a smile on her face and raised a beautiful family.

In 2004 she lost her beloved husband.  After his death she moved to Boulder City Nevada to be closer to her daughter and her family.  In the spring of 2017 she was moved into the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City.    

A service will be held at the River of Life Assembly of God Church Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:00 am.  A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at the funeral home in Alamosa.  Interment will follow at the San Luis Valley Cemetery.  Contributions are suggested to the Boulder City Assembly, Assembly of God Church located at 1100 Adams Boulevard, Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
