Doreen Amy Gallegos

ALAMOSA — Longtime Alamosa resident Doreen Amy Gallegos, 50, went to her eternal rest on July 13, 2019. Doreen made her grand entrance into the world on Jan. 7, 1969 in La Jara, the beloved daughter of Ernest Mesa and Rose Segura Mesa.

Doreen was known for her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She was a friend to all and was always there for anyone in need. Everyone who knew her was drawn in by her selfless, kind and compassionate nature. We all remember Doreen and her favorite saying being “My handsome boys.”  Doreen was truly an exceptional and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who loved coloring, baking, reading her Bible, watching cartoons and her favorite Movie Trolls. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, barbequing with her family and she was an avid Denver Broncos fan.  She will be forever missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her parents Ernest and Rose Mesa of Alamosa; her husband Ken Suazo of Alamosa; her sons Michael Suazo, Darren Suazo, Bryan Suzao, Kevin (Jacinda) Suazo all of Alamosa and Kenny Suazo Jr. of Hawaii; her granddaughters Nevaeh Suazo, Layla Suazo and Jacianna Suazo; her sister Tanya (Moses) Martinez of Alamosa; and her brother Max (Tracy) Gallegos of Fountain. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Doreen was preceded in death by her biological father Max Gallegos, both sets of grandparents Rolando and Jennie Segura, Virginia Cordova, niece Serina Martinez, mother and father-in-law Ernest and Elvera Suazo, uncle Gary Mesa, sisters-in-laws Bea Marquez, Patsy Romero, Jeanette Gonzales and Cindy King.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, from 1-5 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. Cremation will follow, and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church. Interment will follow at a later date.
