Donald D. Lamb

MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista Resident Deacon Donald D. Lamb gained his angel wings on the 30th of April 2023 at Colorado State Veteran Center/Homelake surrounded by his loving family. Don was welcomed into the world on Sept. 9, 1936, in Ft. Collins, Colo., to the late Eugene Lamb and Elizabeth McLeod Lamb.

After graduation Don served in the United States Army. When returning home, he married his first sweetheart Peggy Keys who was taken by God early after 12 years of marriage and four lovely children. He then married Mary Wands Lamb and gained two boys. He was a cowboy for his Aunt Joe for many years in the Livermore/Ft. Collins area.

Don worked for the telephone company for 33 years and made many lasting friendships. He enjoyed fishing, riding horses, playing with his grand kids and camping and hunting trips with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years.

Don was ordained a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church/Pueblo Diocese after receiving his BA from Regis University. He officiated at many weddings, baptisms, funerals, and helped many people of the San Luis Valley whom he loved so much. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He will live on through his wife Mary  of the family home; six children-Tonya (Jim) White, Marcus (Kara) Williams, Brian (Pamela) Lamb, Bruce (Danielle) Lamb, Elizabeth (Chris) Van Horn, James (Jernice) Kohlstedt,  grandchildren-Josie, Allison, Elizabeth, Trinity, Samantha, Savannah, Scott, Sabrina, Nellie, Conor, Adeline, Patrick, Ansel, Henry, Chloe, Sophia, Melodee, Penny, Shannon, Alyson; great-grandchildren-Verrah, Willow, Jake, Ada, Levi, JJ, Evalea and June due next week;sisters-Joanie, Patty (Dick), Peggy, Carol, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Frannie, Jeanie, Mary Lou, Betsy, Owen, and Bernard Joseph.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Colo. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 10 a.m. also at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Colo. Cremation and inurnment will follow in Ft. Collins next week after a Memorial Mass at the church his Dad helped build, St. Joseph Catholic Church.
