Dominick Casillas

Dominick James Casillas gained his angel wings on April 11, 2024.  Dominick was born Aug. 21, 1990, to Jose Guadalupe Casillas and Lisa Dionne Romero in Denver, Colo.  Dominick moved to his beloved San Luis Valley when he was 9 years old.  He grew up in Romeo and attended North Conejos Schools and graduated in 2009.

Dominick met his beautiful wife Ashley Nicole Garcia, and they spent 12 wonderful years together. They loved each other deeply and spent their time together enjoying their family while hiking, fishing, hunting and camping. Dominick loved the outdoors and loved sharing his passion with his wife, children and his nieces and nephews. Dominick was blessed with two beautiful daughters Micaela Eulalia Casillas and Eunice Olivia Casillas, followed by two sons Rayden Robert Casillas and Ezekiel James Casillas.

Dominick loved his family deeply and never missed an opportunity to be with his brothers Jose Luis Casillas and Gabriel Noel Casillas.

Dominick was an avid hunter and spent his life hunting with his best hunting buddy, his grandpa Bernie James Romero. He loved hunting with his dad and his brothers and was always eager to be in the mountains with his entire family.

Dominick was a kind and generous soul and always made a priority of taking care of his loved ones.  He regularly visited his grandparents and made sure they had plenty of split wood to keep them warm as well as anything else they could need. He would regularly stop in and check in on his uncle Ronnie Lee and would spend time with him whenever he had an opportunity. Dominick’s love for family was truly evident in how he lived his life caring for others.  He was always willing and available, as one of his closest cousins Teotenantzin and Robert Lockwood would say there was never a time that Dominick didn’t answer a call or offer a helping hand.

Most recently Dominick was learning the time-honored tradition of ranching from his wife Ashley and his brother-in-law Andrew Garcia. He was looking forward to helping carry on the legacy of the Garcia Ranch.

Dominick was taken from this life too soon and for those of us left behind he leaves a void that will never be filled.

Dominick was preceded in death by his father-in-law Andrew “Critter” Garcia and his mother-in-law Leeann Barela Garcia, grandfather-in-law Robert Barela, as well as great grandparents Faustin and Bydela Romero and Medward and Celina Romero,

Dominick leaves behind his wife Ashley Garcia his two daughters Micaela and Eunice, two sons Rayden and Ezekiel Casillas of the family home in Antonito, his father Jose Casillas of Romeo, his mother and stepfather Lisa and Rod David of Antonito, his stepbrother Harley David, his brother Jose Luis and nephews Malachi, Luis, and Jose Bernard and his niece Baelyn, his brother Gabriel and his nephews Ellianez and Gabriel Jr., his maternal grandparents Bernie and Norma Romero, his paternal grandmother Eulalia Casillas, his uncles Jesus, Lino and Indio Casillas of Denver, his uncle Ronnie Lee Romero, his aunt Denise, his two cousins Veronica (Encarnicion) Chacon, their children DeShawn, Novaleen, EJ Chacon and Xavier Melgares.
