Deadline Friday for local coalition
ALAMOSA— In response to the growing homeless population in our community, the City of Alamosa has formed a Homeless Coalition City Advisory Board.
At the first meeting of the Coalition held Aug. 27, the Coalition passed a motion to recommend that a Housing Representative be added to the Coalition. City Council agreed, and is now seeking applicants from housing authority or other professional housing organizations.

To be considered for service on the Homeless Coalition, please fill out an application at www.cityofalamosa.org/departments/boards-commissions/homeless-coalition board. Applications are due to the City Clerk by Friday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m.
The city spent about a year of deliberate outreach that included general public meetings, neighborhood meetings, meetings with La Puente, and applicant interviews with city council to create a larger, official community group to discuss the many aspects of homelessness.
Fifteen Coalition members have been appointed so far, consisting of the following:
z County Commissioner – selected by County Commissioners
z City Council Member – selected by City Councilors
z Alamosa Police Chief or appointee - Alamosa County Sheriff or appointee
z Health System Representative – applicant appointed by Council. Initial term 2 years.
z Mental Health Representative – applicant appointed by Council.
z Professional Substance Use Representative – applicant appointed by Council. Initial term two years.
z La Puente Representative – selected by La Puente Board.
z Community Representative – applicant appointed by Council
z At-Large Representative – applicant appointed by Council. Initial term two years.
z Faith Community Representative – applicant appointed by Council.
z Business Community Representative – applicant appointed by Council. Initial term two years.
z Alamosa Director of Human Services or appointee
z Homeless/Near-homeless Representative – applicant appointed by Council. Initial term two years.
z Youth Representative – applicant appointed by Council.
z Veteran Representative – applicant appointed by Council.
