Day 2 wraps up 3A state golf

COLORADO SPRINGS — Final results are in from Eisenhower Golf Course, with final placings for all four competitors from the valley. Alamosa was represented by Brenden Crowther and Colton Liddell. Monte Vista sent Luke Hoffstaetter and Casin Holder to state.

Alamosa’s Crowther was the top placer of the four valley athletes in attendance. The Alamosa senior missed awards by 8 places. Crowther posted an 84 in day one competition. He would make some solid corrections on day two to shave eight strokes off his first day total. Starting on the front nine, Crowther was crisp shooting 36 of a par 36 with a birdie on hole nine. On the back nine, Crowther navigated hole 11 keeping the damage to a double bogey and picked up a birdie on hole 16. Crowther finished his day four over on the course for a two-day total of 160 in 18th place.

Also representing Alamosa at 3A state golf was Colton Liddell. Liddell registered an 85 in his first day of competition, he followed that up with an 89 on day two. Liddell was more efficient on the front nine in day two beating his first-day mark by one stroke. On the back nine was where he added strokes finishing 17 over in day two competition to tie for 44th place.

A stroke and a place behind Liddell was Monte Vista’s Hoffstaetter. Hoffstaetter finished day one competition with an 87, on day two he would add a stroke. He played cleanly on the back nine staying on par for five-of-nine. The front side is what caused Hoffstaetter problems, going eleven over on the front alone. He would finish +16 to total his two days at 175 with a No. 45 placing. Casin Holder was able to slim down from his day one total sparing three strokes down to a 102. Holder’s two-day total wrapped at a combined score of 207 finishing in 82nd place. Alamosa and Monte Vista golf will be back in the spring with the ladies taking up the clubs, the boys will be back next fall.
