CRT Kid Show opens July 20

CREEDE — The KID Show presents “I, Mac(kers)” on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 20-22, at Creede Repertory Theatre’s The Ruth Humphreys Brown Theatre. All performances are free.

Performance times are 11 a.m. each day July 20, 21 and 22, with an additional performance at 2 p.m. on July 21.

For tickets, see the CRT box office at the mainstage or see http://creederep.org/kid-show/

Now in it’s 15th season, this original piece allows kids the opportunity to work side by side with professional artists. With a rehearsal process of only three weeks, students act, work on production elements and create a full-length musical.

A program that has been recognized for the past three years by the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, The KID Show is completely free quality programing for all participants.

Based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, I, Mac(kers) uses spoken word to tell the story of aspiring thespian, Martyn, who lets social media and technology fuel his ambition. Will he resist the temptation of cyberbullying or will he compromise his morals by allowing technology to spread rumors and manipulate others?

The play was written by Emily Van Fleet and Nathan Jones and is directed by Emily Van Fleet. It is rated G, with all ages welcome.
