BLANCA — A 20-year-old Fort Garland man has been identified as a fatality in the three-vehicle pile up last Monday afternoon, Sept. 23, near Blanca.

Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Bryan Bouet said Hunter Kelley was transferred from the accident scene to a Pueblo hospital, where he died of his injuries on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The 21-year-old driver is still listed in critical condition at Parkview Medical

Center in Pueblo, Bouet said.

Kelley was a passenger in a 2004 Dodge Neon that had stopped behind a 2018 Ford flatbed truck at 2:24 p.m., Sept. 23 on U.S. Highway 160 near Blanca when it was hit in the rear by a 2003 Saturn SUV, pushing it into the flatbed.

A 27-year-old female who was driving the Saturn was taken to SLV Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

A report from the scene Monday said the driver of the truck, a 70-year-old male, walked away with no injuries and the dogs he had secured to the truck bed also were unhurt.

Drugs or alcohol are not suspected in the incident, which is still under investigation.
