ANTONITO — Our dear mother, grandmother, and friend Cora A. Chacon 92 passed away on June 16, 2020, in Denver, Colorado. Cora was born on September 1, 1927, in La Isla, Colorado to William and Marina Alire, the first of five children. Cora married Ramon Chacon on August 12, 1946, in Antonito, Colorado and together they had five children. Cora and Ramon had a very successful business and were active in the community and local politics. For several years, Cora would travel almost every weekend with her husband and The Chacon Band. Cora was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Parish, The Christin Mothers, and The Fatima League. She also was very involved with the Antonito Senior citizens as a Board member; the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary and she loved singing in the church choir.       

Cora is survived by her daughter Anna Rae (Chuck) Garrett, daughter Linda Mortensen, son Ray (Natalie) Chacon, daughter Carrie Chacon, daughter Raissa (John) Austin; 18 grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren. Cora loved all her children and grandchildren so very much and she will be deeply missed by all of us. She was preceded in death by husband Ramon, her parents, two sisters, two brothers, her son-in-law law Lynn Mortensen and three grandchildren Dawn, Lance, and Lacy.

A funeral mass will be held on July 11th  at 1 o’clock at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos, Colorado and a recitation of the rosary on Friday, July 10th at 7 o’clock.
