Colorado PERA community outreach tour to visit Alamosa

ALAMOSA – As part of a statewide community outreach tour, the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA) will be in Alamosa on Wednesday, October 18, at the Alamosa Family Rec Center, 2222 Old Sanford Rd. The meeting will be at noon and is designed to engage all stakeholders in conversations about the PERA Board of Trustees’ recommended package to the Colorado General Assembly that would improve PERA’s risk profile and funded status.

PERA members, retirees, and community members will have the opportunity to provide input on the board’s proposal and to learn more about how changing economic and demographic factors have influenced the length of time it will take the plan to become fully funded.

Details on the PERAtour and related resource information may be found on www.peratour.org.

There are 1,095 PERA members and 544 retirees in Alamosa County. Annual PERA retirement distributions to residents of Alamosa County total more than $18 million.

Colorado PERA provides retirement and other benefits to more than 568,000 current and former teachers, state troopers, corrections officers, snow plow drivers, and other public employees who provide valuable service to all of Colorado. PERA is a vital and stable contributor to Colorado’s economy, distributing $3.83 billion in 2016 to 98,000 retirees who live in Colorado. PERA is one of Colorado’s best investments.
