Longtime valley resident Clara C. Cordova, 91, passed away on Jan. 18, 2023. She was born on Feb. 10, 1931, in Espinosa, Colo., to Frank and Seria (Espinoza) Velarde. She married Jose E. Cordova in San Miguel, N.M., on July 14, 1948.

Clara enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing in her younger years. As the years passed, she enjoyed going to the casino, her daily rides through town and above all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted and caring housewife and mother. Her family will always remember that she never left the house without her hair and nails done.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Larry) O’Daniel, Carol (Melvin) Martinez, Karen (Ken) Chavez, Yolanda (Dan) Bolan, Patricia (Sanford Baumeister) Cordova, Abraham (Debra) Cordova, James Cordova, John (Sharon) Cordova and Mike (Maria) Cordova, daughters-in-law Cynthia Cordova and Felicia Cordova, 43 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, her sister Mary Riggs and her Niece Berlinda Archuleta as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sons, Joe Cordova, Wayne Frank Cordova, her grandson Rodrick Cordova as well as numerous brothers and sisters.

Cremation was selected and a recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara with a Mass to immediately follow.

Inurnment will follow the services in the Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa. Celebration of life reception will be held following the interment at Los Cerritos cemetery at the Parish Hall in La Jara.
