ALAMOSA — Spring sports Baseball and Soccer are in the books for the 2018 season. With action having wound down CHSAA has named their All State teams. These teams were created following a lengthy process, which included nominations from leagues, and then a vote of head coaches.

In Baseball Chance Strand of Alamosa was named second team in the 3A class. Strand’s Mean Moose made history by winning their league and hosting a regional tournament. With the lumber Strand was the most efficient batter for the Moose hitting a .477 average (min. 20 at bats) and was second on the team with 21 RBI. From the mound Strand led the bullpen with 61 strikeouts and managed a 2.45 ERA on the season. Strand’s teammate and fellow senior Tyler Zimmerman earned an Honorable Mention.

From 2A Carlos Parra of Del Norte earned second team honors. The Tigers went 4-11 on the season and fell in the district tournament to the eventual winner Sargent in the semifinals. Parra had a great season batting a .846 average on 39 at bats. The Del Norte senior led the Tigers in Hits and Runs as well as strikeouts as a pitcher.

1A Baseball and Girls' Soccer each had one athlete to represent them. For 1A baseball it was Devin Ruybal of Antonito. The Trojans went 2-8 and Ruybal was the primary hurler for Antonito. In Girls' Soccer it was Katie Parkins of Alamosa. The Mean Moose put together a strong bid for the 2018 season. Parkins was a big part of Alamosa going 14-3 and advancing to the second round of the State Championships.
