Christine Kay (Prentice) Cooperman

Christine Kay (Prentice) Cooperman was born on Aug. 31, 1940, in Del Norte, Colo., and passed away on May 12, 2023. Kay graduated from Sargent High School in 1958.

She spent her freshman year of college at the University of Colorado-Boulder then transferred to Adam's State College for her sophomore year. She subsequently traveled to Minneapolis with a college friend and found a summer job at Brown and Bigelow and remained in Minnesota.

Kay also worked at Honeywell as a secretary, at Dayton's Department store, and volunteered as a mentor for youth. She had a special relationship mentoring the daughter of an Indian family.

Kay was married to Clyde Cooperman for 60 years. They lived for many years in Golden Valley, Minn., where Kay was the chef, gardener, and housewife. They played golf and entertained family and friends. Kay especially enjoyed tennis and organized a group of friends who played in a summer league.

In later years, they traveled extensively and visited several foreign countries including Europe, India and Australia.

Kay's husband, Clyde passed away in 2022.

She is survived by her brother, Galen Prentice of Denver, Colo.; sister, Jamie (Clifford) Starbuck; their son, Shane (Addie) Starbuck and their grandchildren, Belle and Stetson of Ten Sleep, Wyo.; sisters-in-law, Judy Cooperman and Sheila (Jerry) Davis; and her nieces and nephews in Minneapolis.

Kay spent her final years at Deephaven Woods in Deephaven, Minn. Special thanks are extended to the staff of the Deephaven Woods Memory Care Unit and Brighton Hospice.
