LA JARA — After devoting long hours in pursuit of a GOCO grant via the efforts of an outstanding track committee, receiving generous donations from Centauri Falcon Alumni and community members, in-kind donations from various local entities and district funds, Centauri opened its new all-weather track at halftime of the CHS/Buena Vista football game September 21st.  The long-awaited venue sports the deep red of the official Falcon colors, and workers are now placing the final touches on the track.

Former CHS Track coaches cut the ribbon and the track was ready for use. The first "official" race saw the graduating class of 2031 sprint down the runway to the cheers of a capacity crowd.  Their enthusiasm carried them past the finish line, around the corner and into the next straightaway.  Thankfully, members of the CHS Cheer squad sprinted to halt the group half way around.

"The effort, time and commitment of our school community to see this through is humbling," Superintendent Curt Wilson stated.  "There are so many individuals, businesses, and groups who donated freely to see this to completion, and the entire school community is thankful that our kids have a track that will see use for many years to come.  This came to be because people chose to work together, and when that happens great things happen for kids."
