Calling all 3-D art makers

ALAMOSA — What is the role of public art in Alamosa? How can it benefit the community?

The Rio Grande Farm Park (RGFP) invites artists to a community information session where these ideas and more will be discussed on Wednesday, October 11. This session is designed for local and regional artists who are interested in applying for the RGFP art project. The event will begin with a tour of the Farm Park at 5 p.m. led by the Farm Manager Jesse Marchildon. Afterwards, the group will meet at the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition office at 6 p.m.

“It is our hope that installing public art at the Farm Park will transform visitors’ interaction with the land by creating a space for contemplation, a space to slow down and observe the complexity and beauty of natural systems,” says Marlena Antonucci, the Rio Grande Farm Park community engagement coordinator.

A generous Arts in Society grant funded by the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, the Hemera Foundation, and Colorado Creative Industries and is administered by Redline Contemporary Art Center supports public art at the Rio Grande Farm Park (RGFP).
