Burglary, assault suspect arrested

MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista police on Friday apprehended a potentially armed and dangerous suspect wanted in connection with a burglary and assault the evening before.

Police arrested Ricky Trujillo, 28, who is currently in custody at Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office. 

Trujillo was wanted in connection with a burglary and assault of two residents in the 400 block of Ulysses Blvd. in Monte Vista about 6:55 p.m. on Thursday, January 17. When police responded to the possible burglary they learned that the suspect had fled the scene after forcing entry into the home and assaulting two residents.

The suspect was identified as Trujillo who had threatened to return and kill the victims. It was reported that he was armed with a handgun. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Trujillo was apprehended on Friday.
