Bridge work to begin

VALLEY – Maintenance personnel with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct repair operations on the US Highway (US) 160 Rio Grande Bridge in Alamosa later this month.

A crew will first examine and assess the bridge joints this week. The bridge spans the Rio Grande River and is located on the east side of Alamosa near the city limits, between E. 4th St. and Conejos Ave. at mile point 233.5.

IMPACTS:

Thursday, July 13: From 7–7:30 a.m. (approximately a half an hour), travelers will encounter brief delays and one lane, alternating traffic while crews examine the bridge.

Sunday, July 23: From 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. (approximately eight hours), travelers will encounter brief delays and one lane, alternating traffic while crews repair the bridge.

“To ease traffic impacts, CDOT has scheduled the bridge repair work for Sunday when the US 160 highway experiences a lower volume of traffic,” said CDOT Special Crews Maintenance Foreman Willie Atencio. “We encourage the public to be aware of our traffic control personnel, work crew, and any heavy equipment we might have on the road.”
