Brand the San Luis Valley

ALAMOSA — Valley Initiative Partners, an Ad-Hoc group of local participants from all walks of Valley life have been working on an economic development exercise to develop a single San Luis Valley Brand. The group encourages and invites all citizens of the six county region to the SLV Brand pre-launch event on Thursday, April 27, to vote on the logo and tagline that locals feel best fits the spirit and authenticity of the entire 8,000 square mile area that residents call home.

This step is the culmination of countless volunteer hours in order to brand the region to many who don't know the area even exists. Its simple vision is to awaken potential and sustain opportunity from an overall economic development perspective by producing a tool that encompasses assets of the San Luis Valley.

Adams State University President Beverlee J. McClure appreciates the idea. “I wholeheartedly support the efforts of this volunteer group to create a unified brand to market our beautiful and unique San Luis Valley. The many attractions and activities, and the rich history of the valley, could easily attract more visitors every year. This initiative is a good first step in unifying our valley under one brand to more effectively market this land and increase tourism and therefore build our economy.”

The SLV Branding initiative/pre-launch and vote event will begin at 5:30 p.m., with light refreshments, Thursday, April 27, in the Adams State University Carson Auditorium, located in the Student Union Building. The program will begin at 6 p.m. with voting to commence immediately after.

The public vote is vital to the success of the brand.
