Book coop hosting a read-in

ALAMOSA — So many of us live hectic lifestyles, moving from one engagement to another, scrolling through newsfeeds in the short interim.

How often have you felt that there is just not enough time in the day? When was the last time you were able to sit, read, and enjoy a fascinating book?

The Narrow Gauge Book Coop (NGBC), in a radical gesture to carve out time to slow down, enjoy some quiet, and read, is hosting the first ever NGBC Read-In.  From 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, September 22nd all are invited to come and turn off (or at least put away) your devices and settle in to our comfortable chairs and couch, with a good book.

Families are welcome! We have an extraordinary children’s section with a variety of books and large pillows. We will create a quiet space and will have coffee available. Join us in intentionally making time to read!

And for those families who want to learn more about raising their children to be avid readers, plan on attending our three-part parent workshops starting September 18th from 3-4 p.m.  Local expert Sue Robinson, who has taught primary grades for over 40 years and was a reading intervention specialist, will lead these workshops.

Reading is the foundation of learning. So come enjoy these events.  For more information, please call the bookstore, 589-3464.
