BOLO issued for murder suspect

CONEJOS COUNTY — Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man wanted out of Conejos County for first-degree murder with intent after deliberation.

Michael John Robinson is also wanted for crime of violence and aggravated motor vehicle theft.

He is described as 6 feet tall and weighing around 220 pounds. Robinson has blond hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on his back.

The last time anyone has spoken to Robinson was in June of 2016 in San Diego, California.

Robinson left the state of Colorado somewhere between June 15 and June 17 in the victim's red Ford Explorer. The Explorer was found abandoned in San Diego on June 17.

Police believe Robinson may have information on a body that was found at his grandfather James Sprouse’s residence in Romeo. Sprouse, 77, was reported missing and has not been seen since the first week of June 2016. He was reported missing by his sister on March 10 of this year.

Authorities have not confirmed that the body found on April 18 at the former Romeo’s Little Market was Sprouse. Sprouse and his wife had operated a store in the building, and he had been living in the back. The market had not been open for some time. The coroner confirmed that human remains had been found at that location, and they were taken to the El Paso County coroner’s office for an autopsy.

Anyone with information on Robinson’s whereabouts, please contact Agent Pat Crouch with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation at (719) 250-4767, Conejos County Sheriff Deputy Margarita Ortega at (719) 298-7332 or the Conejos County Sheriff’s Office at 719-376-2196.
