BOE close to budget approval

ALAMOSA–The Alamosa School District Board of Education is close to adopting the Districts’ proposed budget for 2019-2020 fiscal year.

Due to State requirements, the adoption of a final budget resolution is going to be needed by next month according to District Superintendent, Rob Alejo.

Alejo pointed out that the expenditures for items such as insurance premiums and property related costs are expected to see an increase in order to meet the current needs of the district.

Some of the key items listed in the budget proposal include $19.8 millio for the General Fund, $1.6 million for the Food Service Fund, and $2.8 million for the Designated Purpose Grant Fund. The adoption of the budget will also include the renewal of all leases, lease purchase agreements, lease agreements with an option to purchase, and installment purchase agreements.

Alejo concluded his presentation of the budget proposal by acknowledging the work of Assistant Superintendent, Marsha Cody and Director of Business Services, Dawn Richardson, who both had an integral role in the creation of the proposal.

The board was in agreement to move forward with the proposal process. The final budget is set to have approval at the June 17th meeting.
