Blues duo to perform in Alamosa

ALAMOSA — Join Missy & Heine Andersen for an evening of soul-fueled, Americana blues at San Luis Valley Brewing Company on August 18, at 8:30 p.m. San Luis Valley Brewing Company is located at 631 Main Street, Alamosa, 587-2337.

Two-time Blue Music Award nominee Missy Andersen is joined by her guitarist/bandleader/husband, Heine Andersen, for their Soul American Tour taking place this summer and fall. The duo are making their way through the Pacific Northwest, the Gulf Coast, Southwest, Midwest, and the Rockies regions, culminating with tour of Sweden and Finland with the Swedish band, Trickbag.

“If a voice as rich, supple, and vibrant as Missy Andersen’s could come out of a bottle - not that it hasn’t been tried - every blues singer would be dripping deep soul.” – Dave Rubin, 2005 Keeping the Blues Alive in Journalism

“The real deal.” – Washington Blues Society

Besides a heavy performing schedule with the Missy Andersen Band and collaborations with other musical artists, the tenacious twosome also perform together as an acoustic duo which showcases the couple’s individual and combined talents. Dubbing their style as Soul Americana, in tribute to their many, multi-genre, musical influences, listeners find a greater appreciation for Missy’s gospel-tinged vocals and Heine’s ‘history of the blues’ inspired guitar work in the absence of other instruments. Their playful, musical give-and-take style sounds as rich and full as a group twice their size, while remaining intimately personal.

A charismatic performer known for her expressive and earthy vocals, Missy Andersen received the coveted Blues Music Award nomination for Soul Blues Female Artist in 2015 and then again in 2016. Her sophomore album, “In the Moment” received rave reviews from both critics and fans and ended 2014 on Living Blues Radio Charts Top 50 Albums. Raised in Queens, NY, Missy grew up singing along to the blues, jazz, soul, and gospel music of her parents and grandparents. These influences are evident whether it’s a slow, soul ballad or a belting blues.

Originally from the country of Denmark, Heine Andersen has toured extensively in both Europe and North America, playing some of the most prestigious stages and festivals including Montreux Jazz Fest, Notodden Blues Festival, and Piazza Blues Festival over his 25 years blues career. As a teen, Heine read that Jimi Hendrix was influenced by the genre. Wanting to learn more about his idol, he took advantage of the extensive collection of Library of Congress blues recordings at his local library and was instantly drawn to the music from field hollers to later electric styles and everything in between. Noted for his polyrhythmic acoustic style, Heine plays with passionate reserve.
