Blood drive on Adams State campus

ALAMOSA — The Adams State University Nursing Program, in coordination with Bonfils Blood Center, will be hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, January 31, from 12-4 p.m. The blood drive will be located on the Adams State University campus in the Student Union Building (on the corner of First Street and Monterey Avenue). To donate, please read the following and then contact Victoria Campbell at 719-580-7941 or [email protected] to schedule a time:

-Must be 18 years or older, 16 and 17 with parental consent

-Must weigh at least 115 pounds

-Must not have received a tattoo or body piercing using single-use equipment within the last 24 hours

-On the date of your donation:

-Will you have taken Accutane, Proscar or Propecia within the last month?

-Will you have taken Coumadin/Warfarin, Pradaxa, Xarelto or Apixaban within 1 week?

-On the date of your donation, will you have spent more than 24 hours in (traveled to) any location outside of the U.S. or Canada within the last 12 months?

The entire process should take approximately 20 minutes, with the actual donation lasting from 8-10 minutes. A few tips to follow to ensure a smooth donation process include drinking plenty of fluids and eating a well-balanced meal prior to donating. Also, please bring a form of ID with you to your appointment. It is a great experience donating blood and by donating, you will be someone’s hero. With just one donation, you could help save more than one life!

Walk-in’s are welcome and free snacks will be provided to all who donate!
