Laurie Mergele-Lancaster, 67, of Alamosa was injured just before 2 p.m. Monday when the bicycle she was riding collided with a vehicle driven by John Lopez, 20, Alamosa. The bicyclist was eastbound in the alley between Main and Sixth attempting to cross State Avenue when she collided with Lopez’ vehicle that was westbound in the same alley and attempting to make a lefthand turn onto State. The vehicle came to a complete stop before proceeding into traffic but the bicyclist failed to yield right of way to traffic before pulling onto State, according to a report from the Alamosa Police Department. Both the bicyclist and the driver were transported to SLV Health for treatment.
