Betty Jane Malouff

Longtime San Luis Valley resident Betty Jane Malouff, 84, passed away on June 25, 2022. She was born on June 4, 1938 in La Jara, Colorado to Frank and Neoma (Franklin) Malouff. Betty loved spending time with her family.  She was an excellent jeweler and a silversmith. She made beautiful, one of a kind turquoise jewelry that is still cherished by family members. When Betty wasn’t making jewelry or crafts, she could be found gardening, cooking for family, or playing pranks. Betty was the ultimate prankster and no one was exempt from her pranks that included rattlesnake eggs, x-ray glasses and the fart machine.  Betty was a huge part of her nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews lives who all consider her a loving, second mother.  

Betty is survived by her siblings, Judy Hamilton, Stephen (Deborah) Malouff, Janet Johnson, and sister in law Patty Malouff,  as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Neoma and her siblings, Jesse Malouff, Joseph Malouff, Billy Malouff and Bill Hamilton.

A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday June 29, 2022 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in La Jara. Interment will follow services in the Capulin Cemetery.
