DEL NORTE — Del Norte resident Bert T. “Bird” Garcia, went home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Denver with his loving wife right by his side. Bert made his grand entrance into the world on November 20, 1955 in Center, Colorado, the beloved son of Clyde Garcia and Tina Martinez Garcia. After graduating high school, Bert went on to serve in the United States Army. He completed his duties in the service and was honorable discharged and went on to work for the Saguache County Road and Bridge Department as a heavy equipment operator. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Roxanne Chavez on Valentine’s day in 2004. The two shared a long and loving union together, never a dull moment. Bert was and will always be known for his compassionate and caring nature. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. HE loved watching football, riding his motorcycle, working on old cars, going fishing, getting wood, painting, traveling, camping and hunting. His greatest joy came from time he spent with his family and friends.

He will live on through his wife Roxanne Chavez-Garcia of Del Norte, CO; father Clyde Garcia of Center, CO; daughters Adreanna Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; RayAnna Chavez, I’Yonna Garcia, Idaly Garcia all of Del Norte, CO;  sons Bert (Nichole) Garcia Jr., Alonzo Garcia both of Albuquerque, NM; Estevan Garcia of Del Norte, CO; 6 grandchildren, sisters Rosemarie DeHerrera of Center, CO; Darla (John) David of Alamosa, CO; Yvonne Valdez of Ogden, UT. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bert was preceded in death by his mother Tina Garcia, brother Anthony Garcia, mother-in-law Susan Chavez and grandson Clyde Garcia.
