ALAMOSA — Texas Smoke Whisper was the Grand Champion of the Beat the Heat BBQ competition held Aug. 2 and 3. Bushmaster BBQ was the Reserve Champion. Last year’s winner, Woody’s Q Shack dropped to 19^th place. Taking home top honors in the Kids Q were: Kids Q 6-10 — Anakin Cross; Kids Q 11-15 — Brandon Johnson; and Kid Q Young Gun — Lexi Doonan.
