Barbara Alice Reeves Robins

Barbara Alice Reeves Robins was born December 17, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Gale D Reeves and Lottie V Powell.  She left this mortal existence on March 15, 2021 while residing at the Home Lake Veteran’s Center in Monte Vista.  She graduated as valedictorian from Antonito High School in 1953.  She married Roland L Robins on January 10, 1953 in Taos, New Mexico.

Roland and Barbara were blessed (or terrorized) with 5 children.  Throughout her life she was a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.  She worked for a short time at the Antonito High School as a secretary and then at the perlite plant from which she retired.  She and Roland also owned and operated The Mansion Supper Club and The Cumbres Café.

Serving others was very important to Barbara.  She especially enjoyed being a 4-H leader and a Red Cross Volunteer.  She never met a stranger.  She loved her pets with Spike and Sassy being her latest companions.  She loved music, sewing, gardening, reading, and genealogy.  The thing she loved most though was to rock her grandchildren to sleep and spend time with them.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Roland, her parents, and brother Gale Dee Reeves.

Barbara is survived by her children:  Randy (Lou Ann) of Antonito, CO; Brenda Mobley of Bangs, TX; Sharon (James) Beiriger of Hooper, CO; Susan (Bill) Wadsworth of Pinedale, WY; and Carol (David) Morgan of Sanford, CO.  She is survived by 18 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister Sandra Woods of Dallas, TX; and sister-in-law Evelyn Carr of Romeo, CO, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family of Barbara would like to thank all of the staff and caregivers of Homelake Veterans Center for the wonderful care they provided for our mother.  In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you donate to Colorado Homelake Veterans Center at 3749 Sherman Avenue, Monte Vista, Colorado, 81144.
