ASU business students receive financial support from Alta Fuels

ALAMOSA – Alta Fuels continues their support and encouragement of Adams State University School of Business students by awarding Melanie Morgan, Miranda Sandoval, and Bonnie Sweitzer the Alta Fuels/Alta Convenience Scholarship.

Jim Sammons, Alta Fuels director of sales/operations, said the company is proud to sponsor these scholarships each year and glad to be assisting local area students who want to further their education at Adams State.

“Some of our brightest employees graduated from the business department at Adams State, so we feel like this is a great partnership we have with the Business School. Partnerships like this are what make local business thrive in our community today and into the future.”

School of Business Co-Chair Dr. Linda Reid said Adams State is proud of the students and their award of scholarships. “The ASU School of Business & Economics would like to sincerely thank Alta Fuels and all other local companies that provide scholarships to our students. Without these scholarships, many of our students would not be able to further their education. It is a blessing to have community companies that are so supportive of ASU and its students.”

The scholarship is awarded once a year with one scholarship valued at $3000 and two at $2000. Requirements for the scholarship include majoring in business, a GPA of 3.0 or above; a graduate of a San Luis Valley high school; and a junior or senior for the award year.
