ASD will resume classes

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa Police Department learned the identity of a juvenile suspect,who is in custody, for producing an online threat directed toward the Alamosa School District on Wednesday.

All Alamosa School District and Ombudsman classes were canceled Thursday after discovering the online threat; however, the district has announced that classes will resume today.

“Student trips and events will be conducted per regular scheduling,” according to an email released by the Alamosa School District on Thursday afternoon. “All January 17, 2020, Alamosa School District and Ombudsman classes, staff endeavors, events and trips will be conducted per regular scheduling. 

“Law enforcement took immediate action to address the person and their posted online threat — we thank all of them.

“No students or staff were ever in imminent danger.

“Students, parents, staff and community members are asked to continue reporting anything that ever resembles a threat- or safety-related issue to law enforcement and school officials.”

At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the Alamosa Police Department School Resource Officer received a Safe2Tell tip regarding a social media post about a potential threat at the Alamosa High School.

The District appreciated everyone’s cooperation in keeping all students and staff safe.
