Area mothers join in Big Latch On

Mothers gather in Carroll Park in Alamosa on Friday morning to participate in  the Big Latch On during World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7. More than 12,000 people attended events like this one on Friday. This is the second time the Valley has participated in this global event. Renee Mackey who organized the event said she hopes after meeting one another, these mothers will create a support group. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend feeding baby only breast milk for the first 6 months and continuing breastfeeding while offering solid foods until babies are at least 1 year old or older.
