Andrew “Cogie” Cordero, 63
Andrew Cordero who was known by his nickname ‘Cogie’ passed away February 15th, 2018 with his sister Tricia by his side while under the care of Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs.
Cogie was born November 22nd, 1954 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Patty (Naranjo) Brink and Sam A. Cordero.
After graduating from Monte Vista High School in 1974, Cogie went on to work at what is now the Conoco Gas Station on State Street in Alamosa and the San Luis Central Rail Road in Monte Vista. He found his calling being a Radiator Specialist and Welder at Monte Vista Machine Tool Radiator Services where he worked for about 15 years. Cogie loved spending time with his family, listening to music, sketching, cooking, woodworking, playing the guitar, painting cars, motorcycles and even bicycles in his spare time. A lover and rider of Harley and Norton motorcycles he was a member of the Freedom Riders motorcycle club.
Cogie’s health declined in late September 2017 where he was hospitalized in Alamosa through late November while he regained his health. He enjoyed the Holidays and time spent with his sister & nieces. In late January 2018 his health declined again and he was sent to Penrose Hospital due to complications from a stroke & pancreatic cancer. He was admitted to Pikes Peak Hospice where he passed away peacefully with his sister Tricia by his side.
Cogie is survived by his sister Patricia D. Brink of Monte Vista, CO; nieces Zoe S. Lovato of Olympia, WA and Paige E. Lovato of Seattle, WA; stepfather Richard (Judy) Brink of Del Norte, CO; as well as Uncles & Aunts on the Naranjo & Cordero sides as well as extended family, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Sam A. Cordero, Grandparents Cordero, Grandparents Naranjo, mother Patty (Naranjo) Brink, and Uncle Danny Naranjo.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 1 pm at the Monte Vista United Methodist Church. Cremation was chosen with Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista in care of the arrangements.
