Alamosa's ‘Mean Moose’ in Championship bracket

ALAMOSA — Entering the weekend Alamosa’s ‘Mean Moose’ continued the battle to be named best Mascot in Colorado by 9News’ Mascot Challenge.

When last we saw the Moose it was locked in a battle with Riverdale Ridge’s Raven to enter the championship representing 2A. After 8,000 votes both the Mean Moose and the Raven were tied in a dead heat each holding 50 percent of the vote. As such both mascots advanced to the Championship bracket.

The Mean Moose has began it’s bid for the title against Rocky Ford’s Watermeloneer. Things aren’t looking good for Alamosa’s Moose. As it stands currently The Meloneer leads Alamosa’s Mean Moose by a 51-49 margin. But there is still hope, voting closes at noon on Tuesday Dec. 11 meaning there is still time to close the distance on the Meloneer.

Other Valley mascots in the running included Antonito’s Trojan, Centauri’s Falcon and Sangre de Cristo’s Thunderbird.
