Alamosa wins both meets at home meet

ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School track and field program won both team championships at the High Altitude Challenge Saturday at the AHS stadium.

The Mean Moose scored 155 points and they had four individual champions. Jesse Maestas won the pole vault, which took place Friday at Del Norte, at 13-1, Brayden Moeller won the 200-meter dash in 22.26 seconds, and Mario Villalba won the 800-meter run in 2:08.08 and the 3,200 in 10:41.99.

Maestas was also seventh in the 100 in 11.89, and Moeller was second in the same event in 11.24.

Placing second were Brant Jackson in the 200 in 22.54 and tied for second in the high jump at 6-1. Ethan Arnoldi tied for second in the pole vault at 12-1. Also taking second were Jeremiah DeLaCerda in the 800 in 2:10.68, and Cody Williams in the 1,600 in 5:07.18.

Also scoring for the Mean Moose were Tyler Dokson who was third in the 1,600 in 5:08.55, Erick Celis-Alvarez who was fourth in the shot put at 34-9 ½, Jace Montoya who was fourth in the discus at 114-0, Trey Robinson who was fourth in the shot put at 34-7 ½ and seventh in the discus at 103-6, Landon Garcia who was sixth in the discus at 106-2, Adlai Gardner who was seventh in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 48.48, and Christopher Brooks who was eighth in the 400 in 56.34.

Alamosa also won two boys relays. It won the 4x100 in 44.29, and the 4x800 in 8:47.87. It also took second in the 4x400 in 3:36.78 and fourth in the 4x200 in 1:43.21.

The Lady Mean Moose scored 169 points and they won five individual titles. Kaidence Boehm won the shot put at 31-7, Madeline Castillo won the 1,600 in 5:50.71, Sarah DeLaCerda won the 800 in 2:10.56, KayLee Gonzales-Moore won the 200 in 26.82, and Elizabeth McQuitty won the 3,200 in 13:53.49.

Kaidence Boehm was also second in the discus at 90-6, Madeline Castillo was second in the 3,200 in 13:53.52 and third in the 800 in 2:35.38, KayLee Gonzales-Moore was second in the 100 in 13.13, and McQuitty was second in the 800 in 2:26.37 and second in the 1,600 in 5:50.80.

Also placing second were Brooklyn Boehm in the shot put at 28-2, and Lily Heersink in the 300 hurdles in 51.93.

Other Lady Moose scorers were Victoria Gifford who was fourth in the 800 in 2:39.98 and sixth in the 1,600 in 6:10.09,Abbey Crowther who was fifth in the 100 in 14.20, Alicia Gonzalez who was fifth in the triple jump at 28-0, sixth in the 100 in 14.30 and sixth in the 400 in 1:06.68, Shea Jordan who was fifth in the discus at 78-7, Kailynn King who was fifth in the 200 in 28.46, Isabella Lopez who was seventh in the 1,600 in 6:33.35, A;Jordanae Lewis who was seventh in the 100 in 14.32 and eighth in the 400 in 1:07.07, and Olivia Castillo who was eighth in the shot put at 24-10.

Alamosa won two girls relays including the 800-meter sprint medley in 1:54.01 and the 4x800 in 10:40.23. It was also fourth in the 4x400 in 5:07.06, sixth in the 4x100 in 1:00.10, and seventh in the 4x200 in 2:03.83.

Centauri

The Centauri boys were second with 100 points and they had two championships. Carson Bagwell won the triple jump at 39-5 ½, and Troy Sowards won the high jump at 6-6. Sowards also placed second in the long jump at 19-4.

Also placing second were Konner Horton in the 300 hurdles in 46.05, and Graham Hunzeker in the shot put at 35-6 ½. Horton was also fourth in the 110 hurdles in 18.03.

Other Falcon scorers included Cole Jackson who was third in the 300 hurdles in 46.32 and fifth in the 110 hurdles in 18.20, Carson Shawcroft who was third in the triple jump at 38-11 ½ and tied for seventh in the high jump at 5-5, Tyrel Hostetter who was fourth in the 1,600 in 5:11.10, Ammon Reed who was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 46.58 and sixth in the 110 hurdles in 19.39, Dallyn King who was sixth in the 100 in 11.80, Diego Cortez who was seventh in the shot put at 33-6, and Rye Howsmon who tied for eighth in the long jump at 16-11 ½.

Centauri won the 4x400 in 3:34.42 and placed fourth in the 4x100 in 46.01.

The Lady Falcons tied for fourth place with 74 points. Their placers included Sara Kelly who tied for second in the pole vault at 7-1, McKenzie Torres who was third in the 1,600 in 5:57.61, Harper Russell who was fourth in the 100 in 14.16, Bailey Graber who was fifth in the 800 in 2:42.76 and fifth in the 1,600 in 6:09.32, Kaia Skadberg who was fifth in the 400 in 1:06.58, Maria Martin who was sixth in the triple jump at 27-0 ½, Faith Medellin who was seventh in the 800 in 2:50.46, Analyn Dwyer and Alyvia Norton who both tied for seventh in the high jump at 4-7, Angeleah Romero who was seventh in the long jump at 13-8 ¼, and Page Sowards who was seventh in the 300 hurdles in 54.04.

Centauri placed second in three girls relays including the 4x100 in 55.17, the 4x200 in 1:56.95, and the 4x800 in 11:14.78. It was also fourth in the 800 sprint medley in 2:06.18.

Center

The Vikings had three placers on the boys side. Andree Meraz was second in the discus at 130-10, Caden Ruggles was seventh in the 110 hurdles in 19.71 and tied for eighth in the long jump at 16-11 ½, and Timone Dolan was eighth in the 300 hurdles in 48.72.

Creede

Creede had two placers. Tyler Sliwkowski was seventh in the boys triple jump at 34-4, and Jasmine Laing tied for second in the girls high jump at 4-11.

Del Norte

The Del Norte boys took seventh place with 34 points and the Tigers were led by Damon Ledford-Vigil who tied for second in the pole vault at 12-1, Calvin Quintana who was third in the shot put at 34-11, Caleb Cowett who was fifth in the 400 in 55.30, Colby Gandy who was sixth in the 300 hurdles in 47.77, Wyatt VanZalinge who tied for sixth in the pole vault at 9-7. Cruz Matta who was seventh in the 1,600 in 5:20.73, and Mads Kreutzer who was eighth in the 1,600 in 5:20.92.

The Tigers were second in the 4x800 in 8:59.82.

Placing for the Lady Tigers were Timay Garcia who tied for second in the pole vault at 7-1, and Frannie Edelen who was fourth in the 1,600 in 6:06.10 and sixth in the 800 in 2:45.86.

Moffat

The Cowboys had one placer in Ziah Pesqueira who was fifth in the long jump at 18-5 ¼, seventh in the 400 in 56.10 and eighth in the 200 in 24.80.

Sanford

The Mustangs were eighth with 30 points. Their placers included Lincoln Reynolds who was third in the 200 in 22.60 and fourth in the 100 in 11.43, Tucker Canty who was fifth in the 800 in 2:15.26, and Ryan Cordova who was eighth in the shot put at 33-2.

In boys relays, the Mustangs were third in the 4x200 in 1:42.24, fourth in the 4x400 in 3:58.34, and sixth in the 4x100 in 49.31.

The Lady Mustangs tied for fourth with 74 points, and they had two individual champions. Holly McDaniel won the triple jump at 33-0 and Erica Miller won the 400 in 1:01.23.

Holly McDaniel was also second in the long jump at 15-5 and third in the 100 hurdles in 17.49, and Miller was second in the 200 in 26.86.

Also placing for the Sanford girls were Kate McDaniel who was third in the 300 hurdles in 52.22, seventh in the 100 hurdles in 18.68 and eighth in the 100 in 14.32, and Claire Crowther who was eighth in the long jump at 13-7 ¼.

In girls relays, Sanford was third in the 800 sprint medley in 1:57.19, fourth in the 4x100 in 55.48, fourth in the 4x200 in 1:58.95, and fifth in the 4x400 in 5:17.74.

Sangre de Cristo

The Thunderbirds had three placers. In boys events, Brody Artaechevarria was fourth in the 800 in 2:15.13, and Juan Garcia was eighth in the 800 in 2:16.09. For the girls, Taylor Freel was fourth in the discus at 80-1.

Sargent

The Farmers also had three placers. For the boys, Westen Burkhart was third in the 800 in 2:13.69. In girls events, Bailey Asbell was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.42, tied for fourth in the high jump at 4-9 and sixth in the 300 hurdles at 53.43. Kimmy Pargin was eighth in the 300 hurdles in 54.33.

Sierra Grande

Ayden Lopez was the Panthers’ sole placer as he was fourth in the triple jump at 36-2.
