Alamosa State Bank establishes endowment at TSJC

ALAMOSA — Trinidad State Junior College Educational Foundation recently finalized a gift agreement with Alamosa State Bank that creates an endowed scholarship for students attending the TSJC Valley Campus.

“We are proud to partner with the Foundation and TSJC for this endowment, as we realize the important impact that they have on education and the economy in this community. This endowment will help TSJC and students for years to come,” said Alamosa State Bank President, Russell Achatz. “Thank you to all our customers who make this kind of community project possible.”

“Alamosa State Bank understands that investing in students is strategic business,” said Toni DeAngelis, executive director of the TSJC Educational Foundation. “Scholarships help students meet the cost of higher education by providing funds for tuition and fees.

Students can then increase their earning potential, and in return, put that money back into the local economy.”

The scholarship gift will be matched at 100 percent by the TSJC Educational Foundation. “When a gift of $5,000 or more is made for an endowed scholarship, the TSJC Educational Foundation will match the contribution dollar-for-dollar. By the end of the year, Alamosa State Bank will have a total endowment of $25,000 after leveraging the matching funds,” said DeAngelis.

“We are always thankful for the continued support our students receive from businesses in the San Luis Valley,” said TSJC President Dr. Carmen Simone. “An endowed scholarship like this one has positive effects so far into the future it’s impossible to even imagine the lives that will be changed for the better. On behalf of our current and future students, we say a heartfelt thank you!”
