Alamosa Seniors: Seniors planning for trips, Early Iron

ALAMOSA — What a fun past few days!  The barbecue potluck was attended by over 60 people and everyone seemed to enjoy visiting (and even dancing) with friends, the wonderful food and music by DJ “MR. E”! Several folks dropped by to view the eclipse with us on Monday and we have Todd and Trinidad State Jr. College to thank for the donation of solar glasses! It was neat to share this spectacular experience with one another.

We’re getting close to cut off time, so be sure and sign up for the Branson, Missouri trip! The luxury bus departs the Center on Saturday, November 11th for nine days and eight nights! Deposits are $75/person through the end of August with the final payment ($849/person or $774 if you have already paid the deposit) due by September 4th. For more information give us a call or visit us @ www.alamosaseniorcenter.org/branson.

The game of chess is one of man’s great creations. Playing chess enhances memory & logical thinking, develops concentration, improves creativity and motivates a person to be imaginative.

All levels are welcome to learn the game, even if you have never touched a chess piece before. Join us each Thursday at 1 p.m. for instruction, competition and fun!

Join the Alamosa Senior Citizens as we celebrate Labor Day weekend and the Early Iron Festival Saturday, September 2nd.   The Early Iron Breakfast, held here at the Center (92 Colorado Ave) from 7am-10 a.m. will consist of biscuits and savory sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns, coffee, tea, milk and juice.
