Alamosa golf opens season with ninth-place finish at Cortez

ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School boys golf team opened the 2022 season with a ninth-place finish at the Montezuma-Cortez Invitational Friday at the Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez.

Leading the Mean Moose was Josh Cline who finished 42nd with a 104. Gage Rogers was 45th with a 108, Seth Quintana tied for 46th with a 110, and Eryc Heredia was 48th with a 126.

Colorado Academy won the tournament with 222. Montrose and Montezuma-Cortez tied for second with 236, Gunnison was fourth with 241, Durango and Pagosa Springs tied for fifth with 247, Telluride was seventh with 250, Palisade was eighth with 256, and Alamosa scored 322.

Pagosa Springs’ Johnathon Smith was the individual medalist with an even par 70.

Alamosa will host its annual tournament on Friday at Cattails Golf Course. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. Del Norte and Monte Vista will also compete.
