Alamosa Elementary hosts career fair

AES 3-5 supported their Building Action and Unified improvement Plan goals of social emotional wellness and college and career readiness with a culminating activity on Wednesday, May 9 that included a career fair, students’ spring performances and bazaar.

AES staff would like to thank everyone who had a station, booth or activity, including all of those who took time from their day to participate in the career fair: Amy McKinley (Human Resource Manager), Rena Kirkland (Professor of Psychology at ASU), the Alamosa Fire Department, Specialist Ray and Staff Sargent Resendiz (National Guard), Amber Garcia (K-9 Unit), Mark Hensley (Valley Electric), Heber Sheffield (Computer Programming), Keith Cerny (Valley Courier), Jill Wasinger (Cosmetologist), Jennifer Carr and Ericha Loosbrock (Evergreen Nursing Home), Sarah Cantu (Mosquito Control), Josh Blankenship (ASU Football Coach), Rebecca Longo (ASU Football Kicker), Lindsey Blankenship (Physician Assistant), Katie Dokson (Sangre de Cristo National Heritage), Dana Knauer (School Resource Officer), and Trooper Clark (Colorado State Patrol). 

Above, Alamosa Police Department Corporal Willie Squires, APD Officers Brandon Bertsch and Zach Decker (not pictured) took part in Wednesday’s event with the departments swat tactical rescue vehicle. Squires and Bertsch are shown displaying a ballistic shield. Students were allowed to hold the shield to see how heavy it is; they also got to take turns holding a battering ram.
