Alamosa Education Foundation sets glow run

ALAMOSA —This September 9 community members can run and walk for a good cause. That night will be the first annual Glow Run to benefit the Alamosa Education Foundation. Alamosa School District Board of Education member Christine Haslett presented the finalized details for the event at their Monday meeting.

Check in is 6:30 p.m. and the race will begin at 7:15 p.m. There are 5k, 3.95k and 1.5k routes lit by solar powered lamps that start at Cole Park and loop out towards County Road 6 South.

A free glow-in-the-dark shirt and other apparel come free with registration, but since the race is at night other reflective clothing or headlamps are also recommended.

Interested participants can register online at tinyurl.com/aefglowrun for $5 off the $40 price. The discount ends on September 1. Students 12 and under pay $20 while the fee for students 12 and older is $25. That will also increase $5 to $30 the day of the race.

All proceeds go to AEF and help Alamosa School District with scholarships, workshops, training, field trips and other expenses.

“Our hope and our goal of this is that when it’s time for students to graduate from high school we are able to fund scholarships for our students,” Haslett said.
