Alamosa County looks to fill boards

ALAMOSA — Alamosa County wants people to apply for six positions on two different boards by the end of the month. There are five open positions on the new Airport Advisory Board and one position on the Alamosa Convention and Visitor Bureau’s Local Marketing District Board.

The purpose of the Airport Advisory Board is:

  • To promote a standard of ethics and sustainable business practices for airport operations, partnerships and economic development.
  • To promote professionalism and financial stability in the administration of the airport.
  • To advise the Alamosa Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and airport management regarding sustainable management of the San Luis Valley Regional Airport in accordance with the practices of recognized professional airports.

Meetings will be held at the SLV Regional Airport on the second Thursday of every other month at 9 a.m. for a total of six meetings per year.

The Alamosa Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is funded through the Alamosa Lodging Tax and the Alamosa Local Marketing District tax collections. The CVB team of professional staff serves at the direction of the Alamosa Tourism Development Board and the Local Marketing District Board. The members of these boards are appointed by the Alamosa County Commissioners and include the very best community leaders who have a firsthand knowledge of tourism and economic development.

Meetings are held The Depot on the second Thursday of every month at 5 p.m. unless otherwise posted.

The applications for both boards and the by-laws for the airport board may be obtained on the website at www.alamosacounty.org under the section “What’s New.” The deadline has been extended until Sept. 29.
