AHS harvests seed potatoes

...

Alamosa High School's Greenhouse Management class recently harvested another certified seed potato crop. Local farmers Brendon Rockey and Matt Seger donate the nuclear potato seed to the class. AHS students plant them, set up a drip irrigation system and carefully monitor the crop's growth in their state of the art greenhouse. The potatoes are inspected twice by the Colorado Certified Seed Potato Inspector and must meet rigorous standards in order to meet the standard of "certified seed."  Rockey and Seger also teach the students about farming in the San Luis Valley and are present for the harvest, which they buy back from the class at current market price.  This is the third crop that the AHS Ag Ed department has produced.
