AHS cancels homecoming due to virus

Three 'cohorts' move to remote learning

ALAMOSA– Homecoming activities at Alamosa High School, including tonight’s football game, have been cancelled due an apparent outbreak of COVID-19.

The announcement was made in a text message sent to AHS students and parents Friday morning, stating that activities have been cancelled “due to 3 of our AHS Cohorts switching to remote learning due to positive Covid cases at AHS.” According to the memo, public health has been part of this decision based on Colorado State Health Guidelines.

A cohort is a group of students who remain together in one classroom for all learning subjects.

“AHS is working with local health officials and will be notifying those cohorts including staff and students who are affected,” the message continued. “Those specific cohorts will be asked to quarantine and will move to remote learning.”

Homecoming activities will be moved to the next available date.
