Alamosa Mayor Ty Coleman was the ‘victim’ as the Alamosa Fire Department staged an ice rescue training Saturday morning at the pond in Riverwood Acres on the north side of Alamosa. Coleman as well as around a dozen firefighters donned ice rescue wet suits to protect themselves from the frigid water. Reports from the scene indicated that ice on the pond was only about four inches thick. An AFD firefighter is shown tending to Mayor Coleman while another, Nick Bundy, accompanies him to shore on an ice rescue sled.
