Adrian Atencio “Nano”

SAN ANTONIO — Adrian Atencio (whom you may know as “Nano”) of San Antonio, CO entered eternal rest on March 10, 2021, in Henderson, NV. He was 77. Adrian loved music from the ’40s, ‘50s, and ‘60s, fantasy literature, chicken fried steak, Gilligan’s Island, I Love Lucy, the Denver Broncos, 3 Musketeers, black coffee, and unfiltered Camel cigarettes. Adrian was intellectually gifted and family-oriented. He could often be found chopping wood outside of the house his father hand built before he relocated to Alamosa in the latter half of 2019. We, his immediate family, did not know him his entire life, but we heard the stories of his younger days being taught by nuns, the evolution of the telephone, and the popularity of the Ford Model T. To us, our Uncle was our pillar of strength. He gave us a home, a sense of tradition, and showed us the value of kindness. He filled our lives with love, happiness, and irreplaceable memories. We are better people because of him and consider ourselves extremely fortunate for having had him in our lives for as long as we did. We will be forever grateful for his selflessness and dependability.

Our Uncle Adrian’s spirit is carried on by his sisters Nadine Atencio - De La Cruz of Alamosa, CO, Anna Mary Atencio of San Antonio, CO, brothers Fred (Lorraine) Atencio of Lakewood, CO, Gilbert (Irene) Atencio of Littleton, CO, niece Christina Silvas-Nobriga, great-nieces Adrianne Nobriga, Tyrianne Nobriga, and great-nephews Versailles Silvas (all of Henderson, NV), and Patrick Vigil of Alamosa, CO; as well as several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from all walks of life.

Adrian was predeceased his loving parents Leofredo and Ruben Atencio (nee Trujillo), brothers Walter Atencio, Rubel Atencio, sisters Leonila Atencio, Selfa Jaramillo, nephew George Jaramillo, and niece Crystal De La Cruz.
