Adams State production “6’ Apart” brings live theatre to where you are

ALAMOSA – Adams State University Theatre proudly presents “6’ Apart” - a new docudrama created and directed by Adams State Senior Theatre Major Hannah Eubanks. Based on over 50 interviews with Adams State students, faculty, alumni, and community members, this drama captures the times in which we are living. The stage production will be live-streamed at 7:30 p.m. October 15, 16, and 17, from the San Luis Valley Federal Bank Main Stage, located in the Theatre Building.

A docudrama is a type of theatre which uses the real words of real people. “6’ Apart” focuses on people’s experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic, the summer of protest, and the upcoming election. Like a mosaic in art, a docudrama explores its topic from many different perspectives as it gives voice to many individual points of view.

“It’s a weird phenomenon and a historical moment that we are living through and we know it.  Every interview I did with people showed just how much 2020 impacted every single person. I feel immensely grateful that I’m able to share people’s stories and do it in a way that continues to connect me to my community here at Adams State Theatre,” said Eubanks.

“6’ Apart” marks a first for the Adams State Theatre program as it will live-stream the production on the Internet as it taking place in the Main Stage Theatre. Audiences will watch in real-time the performance.

“For all of us, this year is unlike any previous year we’ve experienced. In trying to figure out how to move forward as a University Theatre Department, our faculty and students made the decision that we would continue to produce theatre during the 2020-2021 school year. And in doing so, we challenged ourselves to work in safe, creative, and innovative ways. This original and powerful new production is an example of our program’s commitment to that goal,” said John Taylor, Ph.D. and co-chair of the Visual Art and Theatre Department.
