A Trail of Thoughts: Movies

I have to say that I love Christmas movies. By that, I mean the classics, Rudolph, The (original) Grinch, Home Alone, Holiday Inn, etc. This simple family tradition is something that I look forward to every year. There are different aspects of each of these films that I have always found fascinating. They help to get me into the Christmas mood.

The slapstick humor and antics of Home Alone is something that never fails to make me laugh. It is also a reminder that family really does matter.

The Grinch has one of the most clever holiday songs I know of. It also points to the fact that Christmas ultimately is not about what may or may not be under the tree on Christmas morning.

As for Rudolph, it is just a cute story. The songs are cute too. I also find the part where Bumble, the Abominable Snowman gets his teeth removed by Hermie, the Elf to be funny.

Holiday Inn is just good, old -fashioned entertainment. It is also somewhat historic as it featured the world premier of Irving Berlin’s timeless classic, “White Christmas.”

Movies are just one of many reasons why Christmas is my favorite holiday. They are a way to celebrate the season and simply enjoy this time of year. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate the season, you can certainly do so with a little “deck da haws wif boughs of howly fa ra ra ra rah rah rah rah rah,” (‘A Christmas Story’ version intended).
