A Trail of Thoughts: Day by day

With the arrival of a new year and new decade, the prospect of what lies ahead can be daunting at times.

I know I can occasionally get a little overwhelmed. It is in those moments that I have learned to take life “one day at a time.”

While this may sound cliche, I have found this simple truth to be a source of help in the face of uncertainty.

While I may not be able to control what happens tomorrow, I can focus on making the most of the present and working to make a difference where I can. The Bible tells us, “each day has enough trouble of its own.” No one can fix the problems that will inevitably come through worry and stress. While I certainly am one who plans and prepares, I know there are areas that I have no control over. While this is not always easy to accept, I have full confidence that everything happens for a reason. In many ways, I consider it a blessing that we do not know what the future holds. This timeless truth reminds me to focus on the things that I can do and make them count. I can rest in knowing that I have done what I can for that day.
