A return to Colorado for new public works director

ALAMOSA– Greg Maggard has been in the San Luis Valley for just two weeks. As the new Director of Public works for the City of Alamosa, he brings 15 years of experience in government, environmental consulting, and municipalities to the position.

Originally from Woodard, Okla., Maggard originally came to Colorado as a student. He attended Colorado State University and remained in Colorado for the better part of 25 years. During that time he worked for the Cities of Monument and Buena Vista. He also knows the Alamosa area well because of his previous work. Most recently, Maggard and his family spent two years in Vermont where his wife, Kristi is originally from. However, they realized that they missed Colorado and decided to move back after his hiring. He has a 22-year-old daughter who recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma and will be attending medical school in Denver and a 14-year-old son who enjoys a variety of activities such as swimming and video games.

Maggard is hopeful that he can be a part of ensuring that Alamosa’s Public Works projects continue to move in a positive direction.  He also hopes to maintain a high standard for the department’s policies and procedures. Since he has only been on the job since July 1, Maggard is still in the process of familiarizing himself with the current status of the department. While there is some degree of uncertainty whether the city will bring ballot initiatives that pertain to public projects, Maggard hopes that any such measures will bring good results for the city. He is grateful for the opportunity to help keep the city on a forward trajectory.
