A Blessed Nation

The Great American Campfire Revival with Kirk Cameron is a 100-day plan for the revival of America. I, along with several thousand faithful followers across the entire nation and world, have been tuning in to Facebook each night to hear Mr. Cameron speak the Truth of God’s Word and to share out of the book written by Dr. Marshall Foster titled The American Covenant – The Untold Story. Each Sunday evening, we take communion together. It has been a true blessing.

As I tuned in this past week, I came to the realization that God intended for America to be a blessed nation. It was His plan. Our forefathers sought Him in prayer when writing the Constitution. God knew the challenges those who have gone on before us would face, He knew the issues we would be facing today, and He knows exactly what we will need in the future. He guided them in their writings because they sought Him through prayer. They listened and were obedient.  The Constitution is a guide, and a promise from our Lord to protect us, protect our children, and our children’s children. It is something we must hold sacred and guard with all of our being.

Following is a summary of some of the treasures I gleaned from Mr. Cameron’s teachings:

“When we say America is a Christian nation, we don’t mean that everyone in America is a Christian. You don’t have to be a Christian to live in America, there’s lots of people here who actually hate Christianity. But the people who actually built this place and fought and won the liberty that we have, and set the structure and framework for this Country and for liberty to continue, were essentially bound to the principles of the Judeo-Christian world view. The principles in the Bible. If you take away those values, America will no longer be the land of the free or the home of the brave. God is absolutely essential for the success of our personal life and for our national life.”

Kirk asked the question “who owns you? Who owns your property and your stuff?  God is the Maker of all things. He gives us breath and life, and He gives us our property, money, and family as a gift for us to steward and take care of. If we are a member of the family of faith and believe God’s Word, we are not our own. The Bible says we were bought with a price. We were forgiven when Jesus went to the cross and purchased and redeemed us out of the slave system of sin. Because we belong to God, our body is not our own. It is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

We are a blessed nation because it is God who gives us our identity, our purpose, our property, and our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Government needs to know their place, and we need to know our place; and we all need to place our trust and obedience in the One who owns everything; because He is trustworthy and faithful. Only our Father in heaven can be our provider, protector, healer, and our Savior. There is NO government that can do that.”

“Wealth and honor come from You; You are the ruler of all things. In Your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.”
