Alex Wilfred Martinez gained his angel wings on April 28, 2024.  Alex was born April 8, 1956, to Luis E. Martinez and Margarita E. Salazar in San Antonio, Colo.

Wilfred graduated from Antonito High School in 1975.  He attended Adams State College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1979.

Wilfred enjoyed cruising, woodworking, crossword puzzles, fishing, reading, and the time spent with his family.  He worked in construction as well as teaching and working as a substitute teacher.

Wilfred is survived by his sisters Evila (Alfred) Gutierrez and Mary Lucero (Ron Garcia); brothers Ernesto (Pauline) Martinez; John (Katy) Martinez; Christopher (Rowena) Martinez; Gary (Karen) Martinez; Roddy (Donna) Martinez.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents Luis Martinez and Margarita Salazar; several aunts and uncles as well as nieces and nephews.

Wilfred was taken from this life too soon and for those of us left behind he leaves a void that will never be filled.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Romero Family Funeral Home in Antonito, Colo.

Recitation of the rosary mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos Co on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 11 a.m.  Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos, Colo., on Thursday May 2, 2024, at 11:30 a.m.
